James Yost has spent his 70 years being an active community member of Wallowa County. He was raised by his parents’ Paul and Gladys Yost on the Johnson ranch outside of Enterprise.
After High school Paul and James went into partnership together on a ranch where James continues to work and live today.
Not only was he busy ranching but was also involved in numerous activities in the community such as JCs, Elks, 4-H, FFA and Wallowa County Stock Growers. He has volunteered his time on many boards like the Enterprise School Board, WCSWD and ASCS.
James has been involved in some way with the Chief Joseph Days rodeo for the past 40 years from being a father of a court member, taking tickets at the Thunder room, to supplying hay for the rodeo stock. He remembers his years with the JCs cooking the early morning breakfast and even washing dishes up at Wallowa Lake during the earlier years of the rodeo.
The Yost Ranch has been and will continue to be a sponsor for the hospitality tent at CJD.
