From scholarships and youth programs to hospital donations and local support, Chief Joseph Days Rodeo gives back year-round — thanks to our volunteers, sponsors, and fans.

Building a Stronger Community, One Generation at a Time

Rodeo Is About More Than Eight Seconds

Chief Joseph Days is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting youth, education, agriculture, and the well-being of Wallowa County.

Each year, we reinvest event proceeds back into the community — through scholarships, charitable donations, and support for local families and organizations.

Your attendance, sponsorship, and volunteer time make that possible.

Ranch rodeo scholarships

The Chief Joseph Days Ranch Rodeo Weekend proudly funds multiple scholarships every year, supporting students pursuing college, trade school, and career training.

2025 Scholarship Structure:

  • Three $1,500 Academic Scholarships

  • One $1,000 Trade School Scholarship

All awarded directly to the students college/trade school

These scholarships are made possible through the Ranch Rodeo teams, auction supporters, sponsors, and community donors who participate each June.

royalty program scholarships

Members of the Chief Joseph Days Royalty Court earn scholarships for their leadership, service, and dedication throughout their reign.

2025–26 Royalty Scholarship Awards:

  • $1,500 scholarship for each Court member (Queen & Princesses)

These scholarships support further education and help empower the next generation of young women in the Western and agricultural communities.

Tough Enough to Wear Pink

Supporting Wallowa County Families

During Thursday night of Chief Joseph Days Rodeo, our community turns the arena pink to raise awareness and support for breast cancer services right here at home.

Each year, funds raised during our Miles for Mammograms 5K and TETWP initiatives are donated directly to Wallowa Memorial Hospital to support screenings and care for individuals in Wallowa County.

Your support ensures local families have access to the services they need — close to home.

Supporting Youth, Families & Local Programs

Chief Joseph Days Rodeo also provides support to a wide range of organizations and local efforts, including:

  • Donations to school sports teams and FFA/4H programs

  • Participation in local fundraisers and community events

  • Hosting the annual Junior Parade for youth riders and families

  • Providing family-friendly events such as Buckaroo Rodeo, Mutton Busting, and the Ranch Rodeo Weekend

  • Offering volunteer opportunities that bring the community together

These programs help foster pride, leadership, and Western heritage for generations to come.

Investing in the Future of Chief Joseph Days

Thanks to sponsors, grants, and community support, we continue to invest in arena and grounds improvements that enhance safety, guest experience, and event excellence.

Recent upgrades include:

  • Phase I of the lighting project

  • Ongoing Phase II lighting improvements (currently fundraising)

  • Hospitality Room improvements

  • Signage and infrastructure upgrades

These improvements ensure a safe, exciting, and welcoming event for all attendees — now and for the next 80 years.
